Abstract
Hazelnuts are one of the most important agricultural crops in the world and have a high
economic value. Hazelnut culture, due to its economic importance and growing demand in the
international market every year, is of a great interest in Georgia. Relevant natural-climatic
conditions provide high quality hazelnuts’ production in the country.
Despite the opportunities and prospects, the potential of hazelnut production in Georgia
has not been fully exploited, in addition, in recent years in our country appeared pest, Brown
marmorated stink bug, which have caused serious damage to agroculture in general and the
hazelnut culture in particular. Among the challenges are also various diseases such as nut fungus,
ash, bud mites, ambrosia beetle, etc. It should be noted that some steps have already been taken
to eliminate the problems and some results have been achieved in recent years, but it is still
necessary to focus on the problems and therefore control them to prevent similar threats in the
future. Despite the problems mentioned above, hazelnut culture occupies an important place in
the structure of the country’s international trading. The main market for Georgian hazelnut are
