This work concerns the pension reform that the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia initiated and, in particular, how to make a complete set of portfolios run by private pension funds. Pension reformation is an important part of the government’s strategy, which aims to create liberal economical surroundings in our country, and thus it is necessary to carry this reform out successfully. Naturally, implementing all the changes included in the reform will come across various complications since the country’s already-existent pension system hasn’t seen fundamental changes in a long time; also, Georgia has no experience in running public assets nor the needed regulations. It is basically impossible to avoid a part of the complications because alterations in the sphere of social protection is always a sensitive subject, although it has to be pointed out that the complications connected to the functionality of private pension funds can be evaded if the state defines fund operation regulations correctly and distinctly. For a long time now Georgia has been emphatically stating its political course but in order to integrate into the Western society, it is necessary to establish some economical standards in the country and for this process it if very important to look into the experience of the countries that have already tread this path.
