Abstract
The financial market is a very complex and interesting system and its perfection and flawless work are the preconditions for the progress and prosperity of the country. The economy holds a very large place in the development of mankind and the advancement of the financial markets is directly related to economic success.
Every segment of the financial market should have its own regulatory body. The regulatory body for the credit system and the capital market in Georgia is the National Bank. It has its number of features and till this day it’s playing an enormous role in the development of the financial market, but there is another side as well.
Nowadays, the success of the Georgian financial sector falls on a certain division of the banking sector. Specifically, it is the banking sector, whereas, Securities market, which is highly prioritized in any developed country, is still far behind in Georgia.
There are several reasons for this, but the main one is that, as in many developing countries, the existence of the mega regulator in Georgia, doesn’t help to increase the competition between the financial sectors. Therefore, it is advisable for the Georgian capital market to have an independent regulator.
