This thesis is dedicated to the important role of Foreign Direct Investment in Georgian
economy. It should be noted that its crucial role is not only for Georgia, but also for any type of
economy in the country, which has a claim to progress and development. The introduction
justifies the relevance of the topic, the main goals of the whole thesis and the ways and means
of eliminating the problems. There is also emphasized the fact that Georgia is an important
transit country between different countries and this is one of the reasons why the country
attracts so much attention from investors. Despite the favorable geographical location, our
country faces a number of challenges that hinder the further development of the economy and
improve welfare. Georgia is presented as a favorable and attractive country for investment,
characterized by simplicity of administrative and legal rules, lack of information asymmetry and
transparency of structures. The first chapter tells about the theoretical origins of foreign direct
investment; Over the centuries, the perception of FDI and its role in the economy has
undergone constant change and refinement before it took on its present form. Beginning with
mercantilists and ending with physiocrats, the classics of economics, monetarists, and other
economic currents belong to different epochs, although all time focusing on the concept of
foreign direct investment, since its vital role has been important from the beginning. When
discussing foreign investment, its classifications could not be left without emphasis, which
allows researchers to distinguish between this and that type of investment and not to confuse
the results of research. It is divided into many aspects and includes: shapes, faces, directions,
etc. Types of investment have been identified, the introduction of which in Georgia has a great
chance to justify it and create favorable conditions for improving the image of the country's
economy
