Abstract
One of the most important and problematic issues in folklore studies is the topic of folk work space. In epic genre texts, main actions are happening far from the ordinary living space of humans, in so called "other world."
In my MA’s work, I discussed such folklore works in which action is happening in “another world” and lives of people of “beyond world”. The theme of "other world” in folklore was so popular that it penetrated both literature and filmography. Countries of Far East Asia are distinguished in this respect, they create “mangas”, so called comics and animated films - "animes".
Research of folklore works gave banal results: paradise and hell, sacral and demonic space, are one of the means of depicting "other worlds". The hero of Epic work has to move around and sometimes he finds himself far away from peoples’ normal living space: In afterworld, in the Holy Place, beside the divine beings, in the hallmark of demons and in the fairy tale, which is represented by greatest diversity of oral telling.
The work is not limited to the words of one of the genres of Georgian folklore. Besides Georgian, I used Ossetian and Chechen epic texts, as the study has shown that the samples of Georgian oral artifacts on the "other" world have significant parallels with the folklore of the peoples of the North Caucasus. In my master's thesis, I also used the texts preserved in the folk archive of the Tbilisi State University. In addition, I found important parallels with the folk texts of the Far East.
