Niko Nikoladze was one of the outstanding figures of the second half of the 19th century. He has received deep and substantial education; lived and led public work in Russia and Europe during years. In spite of his age, he was best prepared for public activities.
Niko Nikoladze was pretty sure that press and periodicals were powerful weapons in the hands of intelligentsia. That’s why, he had spent the most part of his living life to cooperate with the magazines and newspapers and greatly contributed to the development of the Georgian journalism, on one hand, and widen the mental horizon of the Georgian society, on the other.
Plenty of monographs and researches were written about Niko Nikoladze, but the topic of the texts’ type, he was publishing in “Droeba” and “Krebuli”, criterions he used while choosing the material to be published, and the authors or genres he preferred and its reason, had never been the subject of research.
Present Master’s work is dedicated to the editorial work of Niko Nikoladze. While observing the newspaper “Droeba” and magazine “Krebuli”, we tried to shape Niko Nikoladze’s editorial politics; bring out his priorities and permanent personnel. Also we tried to concentrate your attention on the challenges Niko Nikoladze had as an editor-in-chief and which strategies he chose to settle different problems.
