Abstract
This work is a Georgian translation of reports on large-scale archaeological excavations conducted in the Near East. Originally published in Berlin in 1975 by the German archaeologist W. Ortmann, these reports were part of the comprehensive German-language volume Der alte Orient (Propyläen Verlag, Berlin, 1975).
For this translation, the rare 1985 edition of Der alte Orient was selected, as it compiles independent studies from various fields of ancient Near Eastern art. Work on the Georgian translation began in 2018.

The translation was submitted in 2023 to the Elisabeth Orbeliani Student Competition in the Scientific Translation category.
