აშშ-სა და სსრკ-ს ურთიერთობები 1986-1987 წლებში

The MA Thesis deals with the summit conferences in Reykjavik and Washington between Ronald Reagan, the President of the USA, and Mikhail Gorbachev, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. The goal of the work is to examine the negotiations and political events before, during, and after the conferences. The paper is based on these documentary material published by the US Department of State, which where inaccessible beforehand for the scholars interested in these problems.
Reykjavik and Washington Summits never were the object of scholarly research on the full scale previously. We have examined more than 50 sources from the United States Department of State are considered. Most of them were not studied thoroughly even by the American and European scholars. Hence, we believe that the analysis of the latest sources presented in our work is an important novelty in researching the history of the US and USSR's recent history.
Besides the archival documents, which became accessible in the latest years, we have also examined contemporary researches about the relations between the USA and the Soviet Union during the mentioned period.
On the base of sources analysis we have made new conclusions, which were not possible before. Thesis
gives the distinct notion of the course of the summit conferences, the participants’ strategies, and the specific results of the meetings in Reykjavik and Washington.
