Eucalyptus is one of the honorable member of wood giving subtropical cultures, that are spread across the western Georgian subtropics. Eucalyptus is valued for its extraordinal rapid growth speed, the ability to produce large amounts of precious wood and essential oils, less costs of labor and the ability to be grown in the areas with no agricultural value.
The study covers a discussion of introduction, acclimatization and history of spreading Eucalyptus in the areas of western Georgian subtropics. Provides plant systematics and bio-ecological characteristics, as well as breeds of Eucalyptus, its agrotechnology, exploitation and cultivation. By the end of twentieth century Eucalyptus culture suffered a degradation and risk of extinction in subtropical areas of western Georgia, which was caused by the low level agrotechnology and its careless exploitation.
The research provides results of experimentation on the duration of vegetation and growth speed of Eucalyptus, as well as intensity of shoots and flowering. Besides, the need of cultivation and creating new plantations of Eucalyptus.
