Education continues to be one of the key priority for Georgia, and school graduation exams have been an important part of it. However, unexpected and unreasonable abolition of these exams requires problems to be identified and effective steps to be taken.
The purpose of this study is to research and analyse the attitudes of parents and pupils with regard to the abolition of the graduation exams, as well as the private test prep tutoring practice, and whether exams had an effect on the quality of engagement of students in the learning process. A qualitative research method is used for this study in the form of in-depth interviews. The study has revealed that parents and pupils have the same attitudes towards the abolition of exams, as well as the quality of the education system and many other issues. Their opinions are consistent with the views of German and American students on the above-mentioned issues.
