The Problem of Self-knowledge and the Architectonic of "Davitiani"

"Davitiani" is a book written on the topic of self-knowledge. It brings up the most important problems of a person's spiritual development and his relation to the world. The poet names the four stages of self-knowledge and, accordingly, divides his work exactly into the same number of the parts. In each of them the author discusses relevant issues of self-knowledge and emphasizes the universal, patriotic or personal aspects of a person. Davit Guramishvili's concept of self-knowledge is based on the Christian worldview. It is true that the formulation of the question is partly based on the well-known Socratian sententia, but in essence, the poet's vision in his search for the meanings of existence is entirely based on Christian culture.
Davit Guramishvili calls on the readers to analyze who they are, where they came from, where they are and where they will go. It is worth mentioning that the lyrical character himself stands on the path of self-knowledge and thinks about personal-patriotic or general human thoughts. The issue of self-knowledge completely bores deep into "Davitiani". The architectonic of the work is also based entirely on this ideological framework. Some internal structural links are observed in certain sections of the text, which themselves are related to the principles of self-knowledge.
The poet has chosen the young people as his readers. At the first stage of self-knowledge, Davit Guramishvili speaks about the necessity of knowledge, understanding of human meaning and judgment. The author uses a parable-allegorical method, which, on the one hand, makes the utterance more understandable and on the other hand, gives it a double content. Such a method is also biblical and is a well-known method in Georgian literary circles in the XVIII century.
In the scientific literature it has been frequently mentioned that "Davitiani" is a book which is composed on the problem of human self-knowledge; A poetry collection of various verses or poems is considered as one, structurally complete work. Nevertheless, the issue has not been properly and scientifically explored. It can be said that based on the rich scientific literature, important aspects of "Davitiani" are represented in this paper. Thorough research on architectonic based on the problem of self-knowledge allows us to understand his work in a new way.
