Abstract
The paper presents the importance of NATO in the fight against international terrorism. Terrorism and its consequences are one of the major and most dangerous problems facing the modern world. This phenomenon, to one degree or another, applies to both developed and still developing countries. The reality of the 21st century is the fact that terrorism is increasingly threatening the security of countries, leading to great political, economic and moral damage. Any country, any person can become its victim. Terrorism as a phenomenon has changed significantly over the past century. Terrorism is often referred to as the global problem of our time, and the predictions of scientists and practitioners about the further development of terrorist activity are not really comforting.
The international community is concerned about the increase in terrorist activity due to the large number of terrorist victims and the enormous material damage caused by terrorism. Terrorist activities in modern conditions are characterized by a large scale, the absence of clearly defined state borders, international terrorist centers and organizations.
The object of research is terrorism in the modern world and NATO counterterrorism policy. Subject of study: terrorist organizations

The paper discusses the origins of terrorism, the role of international terrorism in the international security architecture, as well as NATO's counterterrorism policy, which considers the role of the North Atlantic Alliance in the fight against international terrorism.
