Abstract
Georgia is a place, where wine making started. Our country attracts huge attention with abundant indigenous vine varieties, long history of viticulture and winemaking, unique wine vessels, Kakhetian and Imeretian traditional method of winemaking. But despite of all, certain number of vine varieties are extinct from our vineyards and a majority part are only preserved in a field collections.
Main aim of this master thesis was to study and characterize two rare Racha-Lechkhumi grapevine varieties named as Mtsvivani Rachuli and Nakutvneuli by modern methods of ampelography and oenology. The results of this research are compared to Tsulukidze Tetra and Cabernet Sauvignon.
The results are used to collect information about forgotten vine varieties; to compile their ampelographic cards and sensory characterization of wines; to record the course of phenological phases.
This results and conclusions of the master’s research could be interesting for the experts working in the field of viticulture and winemaking and for the amateur persons interesting by these disciplines.
