Abstract
The master's thesis "The role of the HR department in the organization's crisis management processes" consists of four chapters. The master thesis also consists of an introductory part which outlines the topic, the purpose of the research and the objectives of the research.
The first chapter of the literature review section discusses crisis management, and consider-ing the importance of the topic, a separate subsection is dedicated to the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on labor relations.
In the second chapter, we review human resource management and the importance of the role of the HR department in an organization’s crisis situation.
The third chapter of the paper discusses the research methodology. It describes that the study was conducted by a mixed method, both qualitative and quantitative. The target group of the study consisted of HR specialists and the employees in whose organization the HR department operates.
HR specialists are selected from ten different types of organizations, which differ in both activities and number of employees.
Due to the specifics, first of all, the research was conducted by a qualitative method, which required a quantitative need.
The selection of HR specialists and subordinate staff was done in order to see and evaluate the current situation from the perspective of both parties.
The last chapter includes the results of the research and its interpretation. The results of the research contain all the important questions and answers that influenced the final result of the research. In it, the qualitative results are discussed by the coding method, while the quantitative diagrams are shifted by percentages.
The interpretation of the research results discusses the analysis of both quantitative and qualitative research. No 100% agreement was found between the two research methods. A qualitative study, where HR specialists are interviewed, highlighted the need and value of human resource management in the management processes of an organization during a crisis period, in particular the COVID-19 pandemic.
Finally, the research revealed that the HR department plays one of the most important and responsible roles in the management of the organization, which is mentioned in the interpretation of the research results.
The conclusion discusses the value of this research and summarizes its results.
