Abstract
Chess is an intelectual style of sport , which is very popular throughout the world. Learning chess for a child is very good for childs development. This fact is proven by many researches.
It is very important to estabilish, how chess helps students in developing of different competencies and how we can use the potencial of chess properly.
The research is up to date, because the quantity of schools, which teaches chess to their students, is significantly risen for a past few years. Chess itself is estabilished in schools for a few years already and it is very important to know how effective are the teaching methods of chess, which schools provide. Teaching chess at school is wide spreaded among the whole world. Also in some countries, learning chess is mandatory for students.
Georgia is a chess country, where many great chess players have risen thoughout the years and it is very important that we must continue this tradition. Teaching chess at schools not only helps students to excercise their brains, but also it helps to make chess more popular throughout the country. In the past decade our teenager chess players, are performing very poorly. It was my interest to find out the reasons which made them perform so poorly comparing to others, and i decided to investigate this issue in depth.
The point of investigation is to know how effective is to teach chess in Georgia, especially in Georgian public schools. I analyzed the current program, it's negative and positive sites, how well organyzed is curriculum, are there professional chess teachers at schools etc... I've compared the teaching methods of chess in foreign countries to Georgian teaching methods of chess. The conclusion is about my recomendations, how to solve these problems and future plans.
