The Role of NATO in Peace Prevention and Settlement and Main Aspects of Security

Despite all the twists and turns of history and events of the past years, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization continues to exist and in 2019 celebrated its 70th anniversary. NATO went through lots of challenges over the past years of existence but still remains an active and leading participant in building peace and security on the international arena. Nowadays, the Alliance keeps facing the wide range of threats, diverse by its nature and geographical presence.
In this Master Thesis I will analyze the role on NATO in promotion of security and peace, its ability to adapt to the new threats and challenges. This thesis will discuss the historical paradigm of NATO. It will also analyze the approaches and methods NATO is using for ensuring security and peace, its policy towards the deferent type of actors.
To understand NATOs policy, its ability to survive as an Alliance, there is need to apply interdisciplinary methods and to study organization not only using theories of international relations and political science, but also organizational development.
In the conditions of the asymmetric war NATO needs the improvement of technological and procedural potential of implementation of its various peace and security programs.
