The following paper describes how the contemporary online media covers the protest movements.
Specifically, it describes the facts about worker’s rights and the protest movements concerning
changing the narcopolicy. It illustrates the period when the actuality and seriousness of these topics
in Georgia reached the peak.
This research discusses the publications of three online portals (“on.ge”, “tabula.ge”, “ambebi.ge”)
concerning the worker’s rights and the protest movements regarding changing the narcopolicy.
The material fo the research is chosen from ,,on.ge“, ,,tabula.ge“, ,,ambebi.ge“ – the publications
which are related the worker’s rights and the protest movements regarding changing the
narcopolicy.
The aim of the research is to reveal the tendencies regarding the coverage of protests movements
in Georgian media today. Particulary, the coal is to find out the diversity of genre if publications,
as well as the qualification of these publications; does the journalists follow the norms of ethics and
journalistic standards while covering these topics?
The method of the research is content analysis. The empirial material of the research is processed
in the way of content and it describes whether the coverage of the topics was qualified, consistent
and deep. Additionally, it describes how frequently these online publications published the
material. Using the comperative analysis the research analyses the specifics, similarities and
differences between the materials which were published in different online portals.
