The work discusses the essence of the juvenile justice reform in Georgia and
its aim. The objective of this research is to analyse the policy of juvenile justice
and reasons of juvenile’s crime. This paper will consider a juvenile justice system
in general, as well as challenges and difficulties in the juvenile justice system
while implementing social work practice. The research combines social problems
such as juvenile offenses and the impact of basic education on the person's
delinquency of behaviors.
The work consists of three main parts. The first part is theoretical,
containing the review of literature representing the juvenile justice reform in
Georgia, and also the history of the development of the juvenile justice reform
since Soviet Era till today.
You will find here role of social worker development in the penitentiary
system, the specifics of social workers job considering types of sentences, analyzes
of Georgian legislation and international standards.
The second part covers practical issues. It contains a soft data from expert
interviews and evaluation.
The third part represents conclusion and recommendations, also reference
of literature and materials used.
The research is based on qualitative methods, using expert interviews and
analysis of documents. It will be useful for the people who are interested in
juvenile justice and delinquency issues.
