Sports tourism in the modern world has become one of the leading sectors of tourism
and recreation in the global industry. This is evident from the proportion of sports tourists in
the total number of tourists and their expenses. Its development is directly related to the
development of the image and awareness of a particular country. Therefore, the development
of sports tourism is very important for Georgia and its similar countries, since it has all the
supporting factors (mining and marine resources, a favorable climate, a rich inland water
system, etc.).
Given master's work is aimed at identifying the potential of sports tourism in Georgia
by examining challenges in the development of this sector and its role in the overall tourism
sector of the country.
The first and second chapters of the work provide general information. In particular,
the first chapter will cover sports tourism, its definition, meaning and development history.
The second chapter will consider sports tourism in Georgia, as well as a comparative analysis
with other countries of the South Caucasus, namely with Azerbaijan and Armenia.
In order to be able to generalize and draw conclusions about the theory used in the work, the
third chapter is devoted to the surveying athletes engaged in various sports in the three
regions of Georgia, and the analysis of the research. In the conclusion data of all those
theoretical and statistical materials on which the analysis of the survey was conducted will
be summarized.
