The purpose of the following is to investigate population welfare projects and state-sponsored programs carried out after the implementation of the law on the development of high mountainous regions in Georgia.
The importance of the subject matter lies in the complexity of Georgia's high mountainous regions' socio-economic characteristics. As a result of the standard of living and the demographic indicators being on decline, cultural heritage and border protection of these regions have being put in danger.
In order to deal with modern-day challenges, involvement of the society in the process is essential, since it will help more steps be taken to solve the problems.
This work aims to discuss and analyze state-sponsored programs in mountainous regions and municipalities and demonstrate the dynamics of demographic changes in the last 25 years.
The research subjects are high mountainous regions of Georgia (Dusheti municipality).
The challenge of this work is to identify the impact of the programs developed and implemented by the state on the hard living conditions in mountainous regions, their role in finding ways to overcome the problems and the importance for economic empowerment and development of population.
