Abstract
The aim of the research of the work presented here is to differentiate between different kinds of laughter in Georgian satiric-humoristic narratives and also to note the meaning and esthetic value of each kind of laughter. We tried to single out characteristics of laughter caused by different authors, which were associated with their talent and challenges of different epochs.
Laughter is so important for humans that several genres of narrations are based on its aesthetic influence. It changes its function and type from antic to modern. This idea is supported by rich artistic works as well as the search for its characteristics and peculiarities by many different philosophers.
The theories above are also supported by works of art chosen for this research: “Samanishvili’s stepmother” by David Kldiashvili, “Kvarkvare Tutaberi” by Polikarpe Kakabadze; “Me, Gandmom, Iliko and Ilarion” by Nodar Dumbadze. All three of these naratives showed different kinds of laughter as the authors used different comic techniques. The research is based on theories about comic and laughter proposed by authors such as: Sigmund Freud, Henri Bergson, Vladimir Propp and Mikhail Bakhtin, etc.
Structurally the work consists of four chapters: 1. Theoretical-historical review of aesthetics of laughter. 2. Aesthetics of laughter accompanied by tears in “Samanishvili’s stepmother” by David Kldiashvili. 3. Carnival laughter in “Kvarkvare Tutaberi” by Polikarpe Kakabadze. 4. The return of basic characteristic of laughter in “Me, Gandmom, Iliko and Ilarion” by Nodar Dumbadze.
