Abstract
The master’s thesis “Employee motivation in Public and Private sectors” is a work done
in purpose to gain master’s academic degree in Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.
The introductory part of the thesis includes a brief description of the topic, its relevance, research tasks, methods and a brief review of the obtained results. The first chapter gives information about all the factors helping to understand employee motivation in public and private sectors – first of all, it explains construct of employee-environment fit, shows differences between public and private sectors and gives definition of motivation in general as well, as covers theories concerning motivation. Second chapter explains importance of the survey, hypothesis of this survey. In the second part, methods used for research are described and analysis and recommendations of the survey are represented.
Choosing this topic for research was because of its importance in modern time. For every organization’s effectiveness human resources is a crucial factor. In order to achieve organizational goals, it’s important that every employee in organization has necessary skills and qualification, but that isn’t enough. For fulfilling organizational functions successfully, it’s important that employees have motivation to work. Employees’ will to do job well, try to achieve their and organizational development, do their tasks enthusiastically - all depends on their motivation. Everything said above on the other hand influences organizational overall success. Analyzing literature on employee motivation, we can say, that employees in public and private sector prefer different kind of motivation, which is something to consider by every manager.
