Title of the paper: Main factors that cousing the failure of the Convention on the Rights of
Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) in Georgia.
The main objective of the paper is to identify the key factors that causing the failure of UNO
convention on the rights of persons with disabilities in Georgia and exclude them from the
agenda. In particular, the main task of the paper is to determine a role of the medical model of
disability in the existing problem and verifying the basic hypothesis of the paper through the
analysis of the European countries.
The paper represents important facts, fundamental changes and documents about the issue on
disability from the world perspective. For better analysis of the issue, there are represented
main characteristics and development areas of the medical and social model of disability.
Model analysis are very important, because the main purpose of the work is to understand the
connection between the existing medical model and the failure of the UNO Convention.
The next section of the paper represents the description of the situation in Georgia and the
analysis of the convention on the rights of persons with disabilities: definitions, purpose,
general principles and obligations of the states parties. In this section, there are represented
the result of the interviews. The interviews conducted with the state representatives and nongovernmental
organization,
also
with
the representatives
of
disability
community.
