Abstract
Robert Sturua (Theatre Director, Art Director of Rustaveli Theatre) and Levan Khetaguri Professor, Theatre Scholar, Head of World Theatre Direction.
Georgian as well as European professional theater of theater directors is more than one century old. I mean that theater of directors was established in the eighties of XIXth century – C. Kean, A. Antoine, O. Brahm, M. Reinhardt, K. Stanislavski, V. Meyerhold, later B. Brecht and etc. Only in the XXth century Georgia, a small but culturally vast country, managed to give birth to three world-rank directors – Kote Marjanishvili, Sandro Akhmeteli and Robert Sturua (not meaning their dates of birth of course). I think this is not such a small number. Through their individual approach all three directors managed to create different eras in the world of theatre; they said a new word in the formation of the language of directors.
Every new cultural occurrence, direction, etc. has its own preconditions. This is also true about Kote Marjanishvili and Sandro Akhmeteli. However, at this point the subject of my research is Rober Sturua, and the formation of his theatrical language. Where can we find the foundation for his unique theatrical approach - in Georgia and outside it. How did his theatrical and directorial language develop and can he be affiliated with any specific movement.
For discussing these topics I chose the form of a dialogue or a conversation, which I think should be interesting for the readers.
