ensure low and stable inflation. Moderate and predictable inflation, in turn, is a necessary
factor for long-term economic growth.
National banks of different countries affect on aggregate demand by weakening and
tightening monetary policy, In particular, a change in the monetary policy rate (refinancing
rate) affects the money market interest rate, the prices of financial instruments, the
expectations of economic agents, as well as functioning of the household sector and companies
regarding spending, savings, and investments.
This master's thesis presents, the importance and features of monetary policy in general
and afterward, on the example of Georgia, it's being discussed the current monetary policy in
the country, its main problems, the relationship with the lari exchange rate, as well as the
direction of development of monetary policy and the effectiveness of policy transfer
mechanisms.
