Abstract
During the past few years, specifically from 2014 till 2017, because of increased number of asylum
seekers amendments to the legislation and implementation of integration measures became part of
the government agenda. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of integration policy
of asylum seekers, refugees and humanitarian status holders, In the framework of the research,
respective Georgian legislation, activities of integration centre and access to public services was
analysed. Furthermore, the integration strategy implemented by the government was studied.
Following three hypotheses were proposed: (1) Asylum seekers and people under international
protection do not have full access to public services because of lack of information and language
barrier which hampers communication with service providers; (2) Integration policy is less
oriented on asylum seekers compared to people under international protection; (3) Integration
strategy is based both on mainstreaming of beneficiaries into public services and specific
measures. Document analysis and in-depth interviews were used for research methodology.
Purposive sampling was used to identify asylum-seekers and persons under international
protection as respondents. According to the study results, neither asylum seekers non persons
under international protection have full access to public services because of language barrier and
lack of information.
