Abstract
The following Master’s thesis concerns on the Academic Freedom of secondary school
teachers. It is important to note that we could not find any research on the Academic Freedom
of teachers in Georgia as well as in the international area. Mainly, when we are focused on the
Academic Freedom issues, academic freedom of teachers of high school is relevant topic and the
Academic Freedom of secondary school teachers is not/never mentioned, so it can be said, that
this thesis is a novelty in this regard.
Based on the summarization of international documents, we made the conclusion that
the term itself includes teaching, research, security and school management issues that are the
most important part of the teaching and education process. This at the same time emphasizes
the importance of our research topic.
As a result of interest of the topic and preliminary research, we developed hypothesis:
For most of the interviewed teachers the term is unknown and it is difficult for them to
determine the content of academic freedom.
