Master thesis and the research reported below, is an attempt to analyze characteristics of emotional work of social workers, employed in Georgian public and private sector. The main research problem is to study emotional work features according to the example of group of professional social workers. According to preliminary formulated purposes and problems, the qualitative research method was used during the research period. After collecting and analyzing necessary academic literature, 12 in-depth interviews were conducted to social workers working in private (6) and public (6) sector in Tbilisi. It should be underlined, that all respondents, selected from 25-35 age group, have academic degree in social work and at least one year professional working experience as a practical social worker. Data acquired during the research process, provided the following information about the characteristics of emotional work of social workers: what kind of emotions social workers express and feel during their working period; what is the source of emotional tension or comfort when they carry out their professional responsibilities; Do the organizational mechanisms of controlling the emotional work exist and if yes, what king of methods they imply; how social workers make emotional self-control; Research also includes information about existing and desired physical, emotional and welfare conditions of social workers after their working hours. Each respondent described the influence of emotional work on his/her career and personal life.
At the final stage of the research, public and private sectors were compared to each other by the emotional work characteristics of social workers.
