Abstract
The theatre of the Absurd is an important movement of the Avant-garde in the XX century with a great contribution of Samuel Beckett –french writer of Irish origin. His great gratitude is related to the piece “Waiting for Godot” with which he was able to return the anxious society by the posterior crisis of the war towards the theaters. In 1969 Samuel Beckett was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature and entered the history of world drama as the theater reformer.
This Master's thesis aims to study the concept of Beckett's theater profoundly and demonstrate its original findings. The main task of this work is to examine Beckett’s innovations in the history of drama. The subject of the research is a piece “Waiting for Godot” discussed in the opposition with Mith of Sysiphe (A.Camus).
Comparative analysis has shown us all the connections between the new aesthetics of Beckett's theater and existential tragism. Many factors influenced the writer's style, worldview and inner nature.
