Abstract
Gender equality is the most crucial subject in present-day Georgia. Therefore the work aims at identifying how equality is maintained and fostered in small and medium-sized business organizations, male and female approaches towards these issues and representing the strategies used while dealing with the difficulties. In addition, the work highlights the role of the government in resolving some dilemmas related to gender equality. The research was carried out by using a qualitative approach, In particular one-to-one interviews and focus groups as the main instruments of the strategy which enabled to involve human right and gender experts in the interview process. Moreover, four one-to-one interviews were conducted with the directors and founders of four organizations and focus groups were organized in which employees of small and medium-size business organizations participated. The participants vary in gender and age. The main emphasis fell on the job positions of the employees. The results of the research revealed that not only discriminative treatment is obvious in both types of organizations, but mostly working women face such discriminative treatment more often. It is worth mentioning that sexual abuse and private questions during job interviews are very frequent as well. There was also identified the tendency of offending female employees. Since the problem is very painful the hidden envelope method was applied. In conclusion, it might be mentioned that raising employees' awareness will definitely change the current situation and provide a better work environment. Underestimating the problem within the respondents shows the low sensitivity towards the problem. The work will be interesting for studying experiences and attitudes and evaluating equality concept on the marketplace.
