Commercial banks are an integral part of the modern economy and society. Banks provide connections between economic entities and are in the "middle" of the economy. With the attracted funds, ie through deposits, the funds are distributed to the borrowers and issued in the form of loans. Commercial banks regulate the money supply and, ultimately, promote the growth of the country’s gross domestic product.
The activities of commercial banks are regulated by the National Bank through monetary policy instruments and recommendations developed by Basel III. Controls them and creates a healthy financial system in the country.
The aim of the paper is to determine the resilience of the banking system in the face of a global pandemic. What obstacles the commercial bank had to overcome in order to overcome the pandemic and maintain the solvency of the loans. We also interviewed the employees of the tourism segment to find out the current situation in the country and their solvency. Calculate how expensive the loan is for the borrower during the restructuring. We also calculated the market concentration by the Herfindahl-Hirschman index. According to which we have established that the banking market in Georgia is highly concentrated. We compared four commercial banks.
