Abstract
The aim of the research is to identify and evaluate the culturally relevant psychosocial factors of adolescent problem behavior. The theoretical basis of the research are Social-Cognitive Learning Theory, A Dualistic Systems Model and Problem Behavior Theory, which differs from the other models by the integration of multisystem factors of behavior. The Problem Behavior Theory defines the research constructs related to the social environment (parent and peer behavior models and perceived control / monitoring of behaviors). Individual level mediation variables (Self-efficacy beliefs, Self-regulation and Moral disengagement) were defined from the term of personal agency based on the Social-cognitive learning theory. The main construct of the research is adolescent problem behavior which is defined as deviation from social or legal norms.
The study contains quantitative and qualitative part of the research. Quantitative research evaluated the direction and intensity of the relationship between environmental and individual level variables, and qualitative research was used to interpret the relationship between the variables identified on the basis of quantitative research. The sample size of quantitative research is 150 participants aged from 14 to 18. Adolescent were divided into groups: children who were in conflict with the law and those who had no similar experience. Data were collected by the Adolescent Health and Development Questionnaire (Jessor, 2002), Child and Adolescent Self-Efficacy Scale (Bandura et al., 1996), Moral Disengagement Questionnaire (Bandura et al., 1996), and Adolescent Self-Regulation Questionnaire (Moilanen, 2006). Qualitative research data were collected from 30 respondents using a semi-structured in-depth interview. Discussion plan followed the main factors of problem behavior defined by the theoretical model of the research...
