Abstract
The research was carried out within the Master program of Social work, whose study direction
was next: Day care centers and 24 hours respite care center’s role in the educational process of
homeless children: challenges and perspectives. The research was carried out in Tbilisi’s acting
centers. Staff of those centers, beneficiaries, representatives of educational institutions and the
experts were involved in this study.
For carrying research, we discussed relevant literature connected to this issue. After analyzing,
some cases were revealed: According to the children care standards, day care centers and 24 hours
respite care centers are helping services in children development. One of the main responsibilities
is to promote children to have education, which is relevant of their age. Though, there are some
obstacles and because of them, those services can’t work properly. So there are many-sided
challenges in this sphere.
For understanding this issue, we used methods of qualitative research. We held in-depth
interviews with relevant people. Based on this research, some cases were revealed: day care
centers and 24 hours respite care centers play important role in involving children in educational
systems. Despite this, there are some difficulties, which interrupt the process of the system. It is
vitally important to increase the quantity of countries foundation and supporting programs,
create specific programs, which will support homeless children’s families, increase role of schools
and give teachers proper information about this subject. and all of them are for decreasing the
amount of school leaving occasions.
