Abstract
One important line unites the dramatic texts of Heiner Muller – the research of link with mythological models, modernizing the mythological characteristics and asking a lot of questions during the interpretation. Italian director Carmelo Rifici’s performance “Medea Material” is one of the interesting and different interpretation of Muller’s (Vercommenes Ufer Medeamaterial Landscraft mit Argonautem” 1982) trilogy. Muller’s trilogy is the text created in different period where Medea is the central figure and reported story is being built around her. Where is myth and history or facts? Muller researches exactly this issue. During a destruction of existing myth around Medea, he creates the personage of the modern woman: Medea as the modern European woman, Medea became a slut, Medea politician. Muller’s Medea about the modern woman is the result of a kind of associative thoughts. Dramatist creates the portrait of a woman in trilogy. Carmelo Rifici and Mariangela Granelli created the version of stage texts. They added exactly what Muller considered but he didn’t write. Mariangela Granelli’s Medea is the result of the latest brutal, war history of mankind. She is a victim of betrayal and she is a woman full of pain being cheated and abandoned who is used and sent to a brothel. Instead of great love and devotion she was being insulted and physically destroyed. Mariangella-Medea researches why? Like Muller’s text all the rest of characters of myth and especially Jason is united in the play Mariangela-Medea. Jason and Medea are like a one person and their separation is impossible. Deliberately created myth by Euripides about Medea (Myth of Jason and Medea we meet in various sources even before) and its destruction started Muller in the early 80-s of twenty century. Rifici and Granelli created completely acceptable version by the time of conveying the idea with artistic sense, their art during the collapse of this myth. At the same time they told us their version of myth collapse by the theatre language.
