Abstract
The present book is a first attempt to cover the history of theatre architecture spanning
the period from the ancient times to the 1920s. The samples, including the functioning
theatre buildings, are considered in relation with contemporary theatrical traditions, styles,
architectural thinking and the artistic taste of the epoch. The valuable materials traced
by the author in museums and archives are published for the first time. They provide
interesting and diverse picture of theatre architecture in Georgia.
