Occupational safety concerned with the safety, health, and welfare of people at work. The right to life and health is a constitutional human right. The right of employees to work in a safe and healthy environment is enshrined in law. Occupational safety and health is important for all countries. Statistics show that there are many deaths cases and injuries in Georgia and in general globally.
Needs of Occupational safety and health has been clearly demonstrated by Covid-19. For example, if you take a look inside a medical staff in Italy, their labor safety standards are extremely violated. Specifically, they had to fight against the virus without personal protective equipment, which led to the illness for part of the medical staff with the corona virus, and the outcome was fatal for some individuals. Employees in different business sectors also faced obvious threats during non-pandemic situations. For example, we can take employees in Georgian mines, some of whom die while on duty.
The examples we brought are just the tip of the iceberg, and as a fact all employees are more or less under the negative influence of work.
It is important to identify the challenges that are typical for the Occupational Safety and Health safety sector for Georgia and in general for international countries. as the response for the challenges, we need to define the measures that will help us to solve the problems effectively.
