Agrikultural insurance as one of the main mechanisms of economic and social security of farms in Georgia

During the centuries a society was developing with its legal and economic formations and in the process of this development new risks were rising that could threat further development of the society. It was necessary to create new mechanisms and approaches to provide those risks. In different parts of the world countries were seeking ways independently of each other to solve those risks that would be customized to the style of its population, level of the income and activities. Natural disasters represented one of such a great risks for countries’ economy that could hardly damage country’s economy and agribusiness units. Thus, providing country’s agrarian sector became the important priority for the most of states.
In the recent years important steps have been taken by the government for protecting agrarian sector and several important projects have been implemented. One of them is the state program of agro insurance that started in 2014 and has been in progress for six years.
The purpose of the project is to promote agrarian activities and compensation for losses incurred in insurance cases, that are caused by the risks of natural disasters.
The basic principle of the work is to study and to research existing problems in agro sector of Georgia, ways to solve them and developing perspectives, the role of the state to implement agro insurance project and its influence over the development of the country’s agrarian sector.
The work describes all those structural, legislative and normative amendments related to the agro insurance state programs in Georgia and its current situation, all beneficiaries and the regulations for implementing the process. Therefore, our research topic seems to be actual and interesting.
