Domestic violence is one of the most painful global problems. This problem affects everyone regardless of nationality, race, faith, social or economic class. For this reason, the problem does not lose relevance. The civilised world, international organizations, state governments try to eliminate the problem by developing anti-violence conventions, legislations, special policies. However, dealing with domestic violence is quite difficult due to a number of factors.
In order to adopt effective legislation or policy against domestic violence, it is necessary to see the problem thoroughly, which is impossible without statistical analysis. During the recent years almost all the countries of the world have conducted statistical studies and analyses on domestic violence.
The goal of this study is to provide statistical analysis of domestic violence in Georgia and to identify the main patterns. The study discusses the statistical methodology of researching domestic violence, analyses quantitative characteristics of domestic violence in Georgia in dynamics, and reaches relevant conclusions based on the materials obtained as a result of studies and identification of patterns. The study also gives statistical characteristics of domestic violence in different countries and provides their comparative analysis.
