The theme of present MA thesis “Global investigative project and Georgia- comparative analysis of the German and Georgian online media” is one of the actual topics nowadays. The significance of the study is determined firstly, by the actuality of the journalistic investigative project “Panama Papers” which were originally published by the German media and secondly, the media of different countries of the world have lighted up the issue under question intensively.
Moreover, the attitudes towards the topic under discussion are diverse and in some countries, broadcasting the “Panama Papers” is totally forbidden or is not reported in depth.
Even from the superficial analysis of the phenomenon under question can be concluded that “Panama Papers” are reported in less details in Georgian than in German online media.
The research conducted in the framework of the MA thesis aims at revealing how deeply and thoroughly “Panama Papers” are covered in Georgia and its comparison to the German media, as the primary source and optimal media of the developed country. Possible violations, differences and parallels were outlined on the basis of the research. We attempted to find out how frequently “Panama Papers” are reported, by which medias, when, how many of them were analytical and how many- informational, which countries were the articles about mostly, which sources were used and to what extent the balance of the sources was preserved in the media in both countries. We also tried to analyze how the changes, caused by the publication of the “Panama Papers” as the consequence of the media influence, were presented in the media in Georgia and Germany.
