Abstract
The paper discusses on the essence of income inequality and reduction policies. It also
considers a number of issues that accompany income inequality. Inequality in this topic has been
discussed worldwide since the 1970s, as events unfolded in the United States, Europe, South
America, the Soviet Union, including Georgia. The topic draws parallels with countries that have
gone through more or less similar development paths. The topic clearly shows the problematic
issues that have arisen during the financial crises, what impact the latter has had on the
development of countries and social issues. Income inequality deepens the level of poverty and
exacerbates social issues that clearly affect a country’s well-being, development and future. Modern
society is embroiled in a cycle of globalization, which in turn affects both positive and negative
attitudes. The paper also discusses the views and opinions of modern economists and Nobel Prize
winners. Studies also show that policies aimed at equalizing inequality are often powerless with the
current situation and need to be reconsidered. The paper discusses Georgia and its development
since independence.
