Abstract
The development of Georgian local production, after forming Georgia as an independent state, was one of the major priorities of the state and governing forces at all stages, as local production creates more wealth in the form of gross national income, that compared to the GDP, is much faster reflected in the welfare of the people living in the country.
Developed local production creates more economic stability: the economy becomes less fragile toward foreign factors, the negative trade balance decreases and stabilizes economic parameters, such as inflation and the national currency exchange rate.
Despite the active intervention by the state, local production is still important in agro sector. In the economies of developed countries, the agricultural sector, does not exceed 10% , if we look at it from the point of view of sectors, as for employed people – it does not exceed 20%.
In my master's work, I will focus on several factors and issues:
• how competitive the sectors involved in production are;
• I will review the efficiency indicators of state programs, how efficiently the budgetary resources are used for the development of production;
• whether the state should be involved in the development of local production and whether it is necessary to protect it against imports;
• and most importantly, I will try to find out where and when the state will be most effective during production and what is the role of supporting technological progress in all this?
In addition, together with analyzing analytical papers and statistical data, I will present a survey, whose main goal will be to get information from entrepreneurs to show the main challenges of the particular sector / sectors, in which the interference of the state would help create more wealth.
