Abstract
The urgency of the scientific research of the master's thesis is connected with the study of the current level of socio-economic development of the mountain village of Georgia, which does not meet national interests, as it fails to ensure sustainable mountain village development and a decent quality of life.
The aim of the master's thesis is to study the challenges of sustainable development of mountainous villages in Georgia. The scientific novelty of the research is the development of methodological and practical recommendations for the improvement of sustainable rural development in Georgia.
The subject of research is theoretical, methodological and practical issues related to the sustainable development of mountain villages.
The methodological basis of the research is the method of dialectical cognition of socio-economic processes, which makes it possible to identify the main characteristics of the issues to be studied and to determine their development trends. In addition, general scientific methods and techniques such as scientific abstraction, analysis and synthesis, modeling, comparison, structural level approach, as well as special methods were used in the research process.
The research information and empirical base consists of legislative and normative acts, laws, official materials of the National Statistics Office of Georgia, evaluations of experts in the field, materials from the Internet, information obtained by the author using empirical data. As a result of the research, it was found that any region of Georgia has a high potential for development. The results of the research also show the fact that Georgia needs a highly sophisticated mountain rural development strategy and action plan, as well as the implementation of projects and programs related to it and the improvement of management.
