This master's paper deals with one of the important issues of state management and public
policy, which is essentially important for each country or citizen, but in this case I (N. Sanaia)
discuss migrating policy in Georgia and the main study topic is - "Immigration to citizenship:
access to citizenship and new legislative amendments in Georgia".
The research is relevant to the extent that migratory processes are continuously occurring
around the world, which are related to a range of different aspects. Issues related to migration
in Georgia are high on political agenda.
An essential basis for research is to study immigration processes within Georgia, which
includes the period before the tighten of the migration policy in Georgia and considering the
ongoing processes immediately after tightening.
The goal of the study was to identify and analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the policy
of granting citizenship of temporary residence or granting citizenship for immigrants as a result
of new legislative amendments in Georgia.
Experts' views on immigrants and this issue have been studied using the qualitative research
methods within the current research. The amendments to the Immigration Law on 1 September
2014 were studied in detail; Considering the comparative analysis of the situation before and
after tightening of the law and assessing all the important issues related to migration policy -
access to education, work force, temporary residence, citizenship, transit movement of
immigrants, etc.
