Abstract
The presented work examines Charlotte Bronte's novel "Professor", which gives a general picture of nineteenth-century Europe and a realistic picture of the society of that time. The paper highlights the problems that the author of the novel focuses on: the differentiation of people on social grounds, a snobbish approach to the issue of nationalism, the issue of intolerance of people on religious grounds, the problem of gender, as well as schools with undemocratic regimes and outdated methods of teaching. The novel "The Professor" is examined according to the worldview of critical realism. The author's creative way is discussed from the same angle. Separate subsections are devoted to the problems raised in the novel. The closing summarizes the issues discussed draws the appropriate conclusions.
Description of the work: Bronte's novel "The Professor", which was translated into Georgian a year ago, is still unknown to the general public. The work has not been studied and researched in the Georgian academic sphere so far.
Relevance of the paper: The problems raised in the work, such as: social inequality, so-called snobbish nationalism, religious intolerance, imperfect methods of education are still relevant in the 21st century.
Aim of the paper: The aim of this examination is to study Bronte's novel "The Professor" in relation to the worldview and principles of Realism, to identify and analyze the problems raised in the work. On the basis of which it is necessary to determine the writer's attitude towards the prevailing stereotypes, ideas or traditions of his modern society.
Research Methods: The paper has been written using cultural-historical, descriptive and biographical research methods.
Practical significance of the master thesis: Research materials and results may be used in by those interested in exploring the works of Sh. Bronte. As well as for homework, abstracts, course papers, or presentations by high school or college students.
Master Thesis Structure: Thesis consists of an introduction, two chapters, ?? subsection(s), a conclusion and a list of works cited. The paper is accompanied by annotations in the Georgian and English languages. The total number of pages is ?? . The list of used literature includes ?? Unit of print and internet resources in the Georgian and English languages.
