The purpose of the penalty prescribed by the modern Criminal Code is entirely different from the edition and sequence, namely, Article 39 of the Penalty Goals is set out. The goal of the sentencing is to restore justice, to prevent new crime and resocialize the offender. The aim of the sentence is not physical suffering or humiliation of the human being. Punishment aims at the convict or other person.
