Given the recent developments that nowadays there are many conflicts around the world and most of them are still unsolved more and more attention is paid to peacekeeping processes and conflict resolution theories. Taking into account such reality the topic: “The role of the collective memory in resolving conflicts of small states” is actual as it researches the role of the collective memory in resolving conflicts of small states. The main aim of the paper is to evaluate what kind of role plays collective memory in the conflicts of small states. How is it expressed in the peacekeeping processes and its accompanying events. The conflicts of small states are the objects of the paper.
The main result of the research is that collective memory has the negative role in resolving conflicts of small states.
The innovation of this topic is that conflicts and their resolving issues are explained not only through the political context and by the theory of international relations but a theory from social psychology is used and additionally, there is written about psychological aspects which are followed the conflicts of small states. Social, psychological and political issues are combined with each other in the paper. It also reviews the collective memory manifestation in areas such as politics, art, sport and etc and their overall impact on the resolution of conflicts of small states is discussed.
