Abstract
Winemaking has always been a priority for Georgia and it`s important to brand and standardize this culture. Recently major steps have been made towards branding and standardization and the results are significant.
Georgian winemakers and generally Georgian wine have been struggling to produce and/or sell the product, especially under Russian embargo, but this was not the end. Georgians started searching for new markets, new opportunities and significantly improved the quality of wine. Today Georgian wine is successfully exported to numerous countries.
In this master`s paper, the history of evolution and popularization of Georgian wine market is reviewed,which includes not only the period of Georgia being in Russian empire and USSR, but also the period of post-communist transformation.
The tendency of growth of the international wine market and its most successful brands are also reviewed here.
The paper also includes studies around Georgian wine`s position in the international market, successful Georgian brands and their marketing strategies.
We also look at the Georgian consumers` opinions and predictions around the perspectives and the future of Georgian wine in the international market.
