Abstract
Industry 4.0 is a new, technological revolution, which totally changes each human’s life and opportunities. This digital transformation, with unlimited scale is getting incredible day to day. Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics, Autonomous Machines, 3D Printing, Big Data are already used in many industries and manufacturing companies. They propose completely different, innovative and simplified production processes.
The most important was to specify the impact of the Fourth Industrial Revolution on the manufacturing; the challenges leading industries face, the world trends, the opportunities of digital production and the ways it shapes new business models. Our goal was to identify the opportunities Georgian enterprises have and what might affect to create a digital, innovative production system.
The research is based on a survey of Medium and Large Enterprises from all major industry sectors operating in Georgia. Survey respondents represented C-level Executives (75 percent), including Financial/CFO (12 percent) and Operational managers/COO (16 percent) of 25 enterprises. Final analysis and key findings were made based on the obtained results.
Our research has revealed that, the majority of respondents (80%) positively evaluate the use of innovative technologies in the production and believe that it will increase as a good performance of Georgian companies as well as quantity of end users. Companies see their full potential and accept that technologies can improve the quality, simplify processes and optimize expenditures. However, they survey showed two main common hurdles to digital transformation and adaptation of new technologies: finances and lack of qualified human resources.
