Abstract
The aim of the research is to study Georgian students’ self-presentation at European Universities.
Nowadays, in terms of Europeanisation it is very important for Georgia, how its national identity will be presented to the international audience and how it will gain positive image in European Union. In this regard, one should pay attention not only to elite discourse, but to popular discourse of ordinary citizens as well. As ordinary citizens, Georgian students can take positive messages about Georgia in foreign countries and present Georgia in different universities of European Union.
Accordingly, I am interested in how Georgian students represent their national identity in Europe, how they gain positive image and how they avoid stigmatization.
Based on the research aim, the following objectives have been identified:
1. Which aspects of their national identity do Georgian students represent and which they conceal
2. Which strategies do they use to gain positive image and avoid stigmatization at universities
3. How similar/different is self-presentation of national identity in East European and West European Universities
