Abstract
Text is a complex and multifunctional phenomenon that contains a variety of important information. Critical reading is the first stage of text perception and interpretation. Work on the text requires important issues in the material, sorting it into certain components, groups in order to use it again.
Critical reading as a practical method of teaching allows for multifaceted work in text processing: comprehension of the text, in-depth study, subsequent rapid retrieval and application of information is possible through the method of critical reading.
The aim of the study is to identify the reasons that hinder critical reading at an early stage, to find ways to solve the problem, and to develop recommendations for improving inclusion.
Research objectives: The research objective is to answer the following questions: Do monotonous lessons hinder the development of critical reading skills? What difficulties do students face when reading? How can we help students improve their critical reading? What role do comprehension-oriented activities play in the development of student literacy?
Conclusions are based on analysis of sources and research results. The materials are presented with examples that enhance their practical application.
The work is intended for teachers and students.
